AYAHUASCA IN BRAZIL

The buzz: For more than 3,000 years, Amazonian tribes have been using this tea—brewed from the vine of the ayahuasca plant and the leaves of the chacruna, a member of the coffee family—to cure emotional ailments. Current practitioners describe it as a confrontation with one's innermost self. But this is no sissy sipping experience: Because the tea contains dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, you'll have emotional highs similar to what you experience on Ecstasy and hallucinations on par with peyote. The trip can last from 2 to 5 hours, depending on the amount of tea you drink.

Where to score: Heart of the Initiate, a U.S.-based organization, offers ayahuasca workshops at an eco-resort on the coast of Brazil, where the indigenous, religious, and ritual use of ayahuasca is protected by federal law. The workshops—either 8 or 17 days—begin with 2 days of decompression, followed by ayahuasca ceremonies every other day, led by an experienced shaman. The company insists that ayahuasca is not a recreational drug, warning that you should expect to "get comfortable with being uncomfortable."

Where to chill: The simple answer? You won't. The ceremony itself can get quite intense—there's chanting, songs in tribal languages, incense, and, of course, drinking the tea. And you should expect to throw up. Just as in ayurvedic traditions on the other side of the world, vomiting is an expected and therapeutic part of the process. Champions claim that ayahuasca purges the digestive, circulatory, and neurological systems, and many participants report a feeling of well-being and internal "cleanliness" that lasts after the ceremony.

How to come down: Feel free to wander within the bounds of the resort, but don't give in to the siren song of the beach—the riptides can be extremely dangerous. Coming down from the experience as a whole, though, is a longer process. Past trippers talk about sporadic bursts of emotional insights for weeks after the workshops—so you may as well do that on the beach in Rio.

Das Datum des 21. Dezember 2012 existiert als ein Symbol besonderer Ironie. Jedes konkrete Datum ist eine vom Menschen geschaffene Kennzeichnung, um im Konstrukt der Zeit einen bestimmten Zeitpunkt darzustellen. Mir scheint das ironisch, da der große Übergang oder die große Evolution, der wir uns vielleicht nähern, sicher damit zu tun hat, unser Bewusstsein über die Zeit zu erneuern, oder sogar die Zeit selbst auszulöschen.

Das 2012 Problem von Ralph Miller (11. September 2006)

Wir leben gemäß dem Konstrukt der Zeit, jedoch wissen wir recht wenig darüber was Zeit wirklich ist. Es gibt einen vergessen Ort in uns, an dem wir unsere Verbundenheit mit allem erkennen können. Diese Wiedervereinigung wird das Ende von Zeit sein, wie wir sie jetzt kennen, und wird unser Sein als menschliche Wesen für immer verändern.

Heilung kommt zum Menschen durch die Natur, von der Mutter Erde, von Gaia. Die Natur arbeitet auf ihre eigene Heilung hin. Ayahuasca ist die Lehrerin der Natur.

Por 20 años levanté una familia y trabajé como agente viajero. En los años recientes he conducido talleres en Brasil usando una planta ‘medicinal’ ancestral o brebaje que ha sido usada miles de años en la Amazonia por tribus indígenas. El brebaje es llamado Ayahuasca y contiene una sustancia psicoactiva y visionaria muy poderosa llamada Dimetiltriptamina (DMT). El DMT se encuentra en todas las cosas vivientes incluyendo a los humanos.

2012 Visitado de Nuevo por Ralph Miller (Junio 21, 2008)

La fecha de Diciembre 21 del 2012 es un símbolo que existe como una extraordinaria ironía. Cualquier fecha en particular es una marca creada por el hombre denotando el concepto de un punto en el tiempo. Yo encuentro esto irónico ya que la gran transición o evolución a la que podríamos estar aproximándonos seguramente tiene que ver con la renovación completa de nuestra conciencia del tiempo o incluso con la erradicación misma del tiempo!

Nosotros vivimos de acuerdo a las estructuras del tiempo, pero realmente tenemos poco entendimiento de lo que este verdaderamente es. Hay un paisaje interno olvidado en donde podemos percibir nuestra conexión con todo. Esa reconexión traerá un final del tiempo así como lo hemos conocido y cambiara por siempre lo que somos como seres humanos.
